He knew at a very young age that he was very different from other children and most of his childhood memories are of vivid extra-sensory experiences. He was a gifted, unusual child growing up in a religiously conservative community, but he continued to be drawn to all things paranormal. Due to the influences of rigidly conformist school system and the prejudiced society that was South Africa under Apartheid, he eventually began to view his psychic heritage as a shameful secret.  In his teenage years and early adulthood Anthon fervently resisted his psychic heritage and even refused to acknowledge the existence of any psychic phenomena, despite an explanatory letter written to him by his grandmother, several years before his birth. It took a series of traumatic, life-changing events to ultimately lead him to embrace his true nature and accept his calling later in life.
