In my line of work there is sometimes the unhealthy obsession with the concept of clearing "dark entities" or removing "evil curses". Some of the most spiritually aware and gifted people, who are otherwise very reasonable, intelligent and level-headed, can sometimes also become fanatic about finding evil spirits, curses and dark entities under their beds, inside their closets …and deep-down in the purses and wallets of their clients.
It stems from the duality found in every important aspect of our expanding Universe: dark versus light, life versus death, night versus day. But light needs the presence of darkness to be truly visible and meaningful. The co-existence of good and evil is also the basis for an inner conflict that each of us have to resolve in this lifetime. It is part of the reason why we are here. Both good and evil therefore do serve a purpose in the greater scheme of things. No doubt about that. But blaming the spiritual realm for the darkness of men is my idea of heresy and blasphemy.
The new year has kicked off with yet another batch of psychic predictions from all over the globe. It has become an annual tradition to predict as much doom and gloom as possible, and this year the custom was once again upheld with much enthusiasm and zeal.
This year's predictions include several massive earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, mysterious diseases, floods and fires – enough to cause many a panic attack and sleepless night. Not to mention all the political upheaval, economic disaster, crime and high-profile kidnappings that have also been lined up for the year ahead.
The additional celebrity gossip about Hollywood marriages, break-ups and babies is simply meant to soften the blow; a feeble attempt at 'sugar-coating' and click-baiting. It is the clumsy, modern day version of good news. It also serves to entertain those who could care less about serious world events. |
